The 1st batch of 187 Nigerians in South Africa have returned to Nigeria following ongoing xenophobic attacks on overseas nationals and their corporations.

Newswatch.ng studies that the Federal Federal government with the help of a Nigerian carrier, Air Peace experienced volunteered to aid Nigerians who wish to leave South Africa, return to Nigeria without the need of a price.

The B777 aircraft, with registration selection 5N-BWI, which departed Thambo International Airport, Johannesburg, landed at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Intercontinental Airport, Lagos, at 9.37 p.m.

The returnees incorporated older people, youngsters and infants,  who expressed joy on returning dwelling properly and sang the Nigerian Nationwide Anthem.

They were being gained by the Chairman of Nigeria Diaspora Commission, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Air Peace Chairman, Mr Allen Onyema, and the reps of govt which integrated the Nationwide Emergency Administration Company(NEMA), Nigeria Immigration Services and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.

Dabiri-Erewa informed newsmen that around 600 Nigerians had indicated curiosity to return from South Africa, introducing that the govt was completely ready to guide them to settle again in the place via its a variety of social intervention programmes.

She said the Financial institution of Sector experienced also been mobilised to assist individuals keen to obtain vocational expertise.

In accordance to her, stipends will be presented to these Nigerians to help them get back to their respective states,  while telecommunication corporation, MTN, will also give them pre-loaded Sim cards of N6, 000 to help them.

Onyema advised newsmen that the airline spent in excess of N300 million to airlift the afflicted Nigerians in the bid to to support the Federal Governing administration.

“We want to deliver a signal to the earth that Nigerians are their brother’s keepers.

“I support the Federal Governing administration and President Muhammadu Buhari and this gesture is an support to the govt to bring our brothers back household.

“We are presenting cost-free excursion to Nigerians in South Africa to return household after heading through the traumatic expertise of the attacks.

“Air Peace has explained this is free of charge and we are carrying out it in solidarity with the Federal Authorities,” Onyema claimed.

Two of the returnees, Mr John Onuoha from Abia and Jude Anthony from Edo, instructed newsmen that they ended up unjustly attacked by South Africans, who ruined their organizations and homes in fresh xenophobic attacks which commenced on Aug. 29.

They praised Air Peace for the kind gesture, stressing that there was no place like dwelling.
